The National Lottery is viewed as one of Spain’s most traditional games and, like most other lotteries around the world, it is one that offers players the chance to win life-changing cash prizes. The National Lottery was brought to Spain by Carlos III in 1811, and was originally used to boost the amount of money in the Public Treasury. Madrid was designated the home of the lottery headquarters in 1814, and at the same time the game was officially named The Modern Lottery – a name the Spanish public had been using on a casual basis for some time.

There are many different Spanish lottery games that can be played each week. Perhaps the most noteable include Bonoloto which is played on Mondays, Tuesdays, Thursdays and Fridays. The National Lottery and La Primitiva are both played on Thursdays and Saturdays. On Sundays, there is a 54 + 1 game which boasts some particularly large  jackpots.
